Greenhaven is a primarily residential community adjacent to the Pocket area of Central Sacramento. The two neighborhoods are often referred to in conjunction with each other, and are home to numerous parks, with shopping centers, restaurants and cafes skirting the pleasant, winding maze of middle class and high-end homes.
The area may best be known for how Seymour Park winds through the community, connecting the Pocket Canal Parkway and Sacramento River. This gives residents access to more than two miles of bike trails and greenbelt – ideal for jogging, walking and exploring. Pedestrian walkways and lack of street interference make it an oasis among suburban amenities.
Greenhaven is also home to Wenzel School Park, John F. Kennedy High School, and the Robbie Waters Pocket-Greenhaven Library, which shares its facilities with the School of Engineering and Sciences. The library offers youth-friendly features with an enclosed area specifically designed for teens, and a Ready to Read Room for infants to kindergarteners. The Sojourner Truth Park is also nearby this community focal point.
